Program Overview
The programs that have been developed
at Independent Family Services have been done so with the best interest of the children and families in mind. Along with the
best interest of the welfare of children, the program also addresses the realities of the families that are being referred.
The program itself will be a comprehensive treatment of family issues that center around identifying, exploring and resolving
issues that have lead to negative family experiences. This treatment will involve our staff, the county agency staff and the
families to develop and implement a custom-made plan that will pinpoint issues and expedite the learning process for families.
Through this direct approach families will engage in mentoring programs for the parent or child, family negotiations/conflict
resolution services, supportive emotional and communication building services, parenting enhancement services and community
based recreational building services.
The program design allows for intense family interaction with qualified family
resource professionals who understand the family’s potential and limits. Our staff will work directly with families in their
home and their communities. The program allows for the interaction to occur during non-traditional hours, such as evenings
and weekends. The family resource professionals will provide family education, emotional supportive services, parenting skills
enhancement, family-focused recreational activities and community support service building skills.
Through the collaborative
nature of the process instilled from the initial referral to the final report, it is viewed that families will understand
their new roles as parents and care takers and will take the positive and effective changes, internalize them, and continue
to provide for the safety and well being of their children after direct services have ended.
Families successfully
completing services will also receive follow up services for up to a one year period of time from their initial start date.
